How to Review Your Trades (A Weekly Routine That Works)

By Mohamed Amine Sououdi, Founder · 5 min read

Recording trades is only half the value; the improvement comes from reviewing them. Yet most traders never do it, or do it emotionally right after a loss. A calm, structured weekly review is one of the highest-return habits in trading.

Separate process from outcome

The key skill is judging your decision, not the result. A good trade can lose and a bad trade can win. Sort your week into on-plan trades and off-plan trades first — the off-plan ones are where your money and your lessons are hiding.

Find the pattern in the losses

Look at your losing and off-plan trades together. Do they cluster at a certain time, in a certain market, after a previous loss, at a bigger size? Almost every trader’s mistakes share a fingerprint. Naming it is the first step to gating it.

Do more of what pays

Then look at your best trades. Which setup, session and market produced them? The goal is not just to cut mistakes but to concentrate on your genuine edge — trade your A+ setup more and your marginal ones less.
