Most traders do not have one strategy; they have several, mixed together. Usually one setup carries the account while two or three quietly give the profits back. The problem is you cannot feel the difference — it only shows in the data.
Tag your setups honestly
Give every trade a simple, consistent setup label — the pattern that got you in. Be honest and specific. Over enough trades, these tags become the most valuable column in your journal, because they let you compare like with like.
Rank them by expectancy, not feeling
Group your trades by setup and look at the win rate, expectancy and net result of each over a decent sample. Feelings will surprise you: the setup you love is often not the one that pays, and a boring one is quietly carrying you.
Concentrate and cut
Once you know your best setup, the plan writes itself: trade it more, at the right times and markets, and cut or rework the ones with negative expectancy. This single reallocation is often the biggest improvement a trader ever makes.
